Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
- SB2 requires initial CCW classes to be 16 hours. How will this work?
- We will do the class lecture portion on a Saturday, and the range portion on Sunday.
- Two days of training is not a negative thing. Current laws are complicated and you should invest some time in your training.
- I heard SB2 made it illegal to carry my gun in public?
- Not so fast. SB2 does include 26 "sensitive places" which essentially make it illegal to carry in public.
- However! Thanks to the hard work of the NRA and CRPA, that portion of the law has been placed under an injunction pending a full hearing. As of now, the sensitive areas portion is not enforced. Carry as usual.
- I'm new to firearms and I'm afraid I wont pass the live fire qualification.
- Do not worry about this. You will receive all the training you need to successfully pass the qualification.
- Two days of training will only get you so far however. There is no substitute for time and practice. You should train regularly to make sure you are as proficient as possible.
- Will you do private classes?
- Yes. We regularly do classes at private homes, businesses, and churches. Contact us with the details and we will get it scheduled.
- What if it rains the day of my class?
- We hold our classes rain or shine, so come prepared for any weather condition.
- Is ammo provided in the class price?
- No. We are not an ammo or firearms dealer.
- How much ammo will I need?
- The qualification standard in Kings and Tulare counties is you fire each gun you plan to carry one time fully loaded at five yards.
- At a minimum, bring enough ammo to fully load each firearm one time.
- I recommend you bring a little more should we identify an issue and need to work with you.
- Where do you hold your classes?
- I have two very nice and professional classrooms.
- Location 1- 19229 Ave 152, Porterville (Directly across from American Truck Parts). This location accommodates 35 people comfortably.
- Location 2- We have a very nice location in Woodlake, Ca, as well. This location can accommodate 20 people.
- How many guns am I allowed to have on my CA CCW permit?
- Most counties allow 3 to 10 guns on the permit. Check with your county sheriffs office to verify.
- Am I guaranteed to get the CA CCW permit?
- No, you are not guaranteed. That is up to your county’s sheriff to decide, we only provide the training that you need to comply with law and the application process.
- When do I need to renew my CA CCW permit?
- You need to renew it every two years. You can sign up for the 8 hour renewal course online.
